How did it all start?
Plazmalab started as a small unique shop in King George St. in Tel-Aviv about two decades ago. It became haven for people who were searching for alternative ways to express their individuality through fashion, and in a way helped to shape a cultural scene that was evolving in the city in those years. Since then Plazmalab kept on growing, always looking for new ways to evolve and expand. These days we produce all our products from scratch, and orchestrate the different stages of design and manufacturing.
Our studio and headquarters is located on a rooftop overlooking the city of Tel-Aviv, it holds a group of creative individuals that help shape the concept of Plazmalab. We design our own unique cuts and graphics, do screen development and silk-screen prints. All this is done by our group of talented in-house artists.
IMAGINE, CREATE, MAKE IT HAPPEN
Our group of artists are always striving to create innovative imagery using different styles and techniques. ranging from intricate pencil works to digital collages, from 3D modeling to illustration and sculpture. Throughout the years we had many individuals that contributed to our growth and continuously redefined our objectives and aspirations, since our very beginning these artists were the backbone of Plazmalab and their creations are the driving force that keeps our cogwheels spinning. We are dedicated to keep the place fresh with new ideas while keeping in mind the history of Plazmalab and the concepts which are the basis of our existence.
NEXT UP: lets put our ideas on something!
And so we begin by selecting fabrics for our next collection. We manufacture our own unique fabrics by putting them through a series of lab tests, carefully choosing the composition of fabrics, testing them for durability and creating our own colors. Each season starts off with a fresh palette of colors.
SCREEN DEVELOPMENT
Once the graphic design is ready and printed onto a transparent film, we start the stage of screen development. Each color of the design is developed onto an individual screen in a similar way to photography development in dark rooms. we choose the right type of screen according to the graphic being printed. once the screen has been developed and checked for errors we are ready to move to the next level.
OUR GARMENT DESIGN DEPARTMENT
This stage begins with endless concept designs and ideas which are then narrowed down to a selection of chosen garments for the season. These items go into a long process of modeling, tailoring and different cut adjustments that are continuously being made until the product is perfected. We use the latest 3D technology to
simulate, test and enhance our items before mass production. We draw our seasonal inspiration from a pre chosen theme for
each collection.
SILK SCREEN PRINTING- WE LOVE IT!
Now that the screens are ready, we mount them onto our monstrous
printing machine that basically looks like a gigantic octopus robot...
it is very important that the screens would overlap with extreme precision. Our team of printers creates the desired color tones by mixing together
different base colors. after making several tests on the desired fabric to reach the most accurate result, we are finally ready to start the printing process! This process is done by placing pre-sewn cuts on the machine. What next?
The printed cuts are sent to the sewing factory for the completion of the product.
THE SEWING FACTORY
Printed cuts are sent to our factory for further completion of the product, which is then shipped back to our warehouse and from there to the rest of the world.
For over a decade we have been working with a factory that resides in the Palestinian authority, creating job opportunities for many. We are glad to be supporting co-existence between our two nations and hope we are contributing to a small change in the area.
Once every few weeks our lab turns into a photographic studio where we do our photo sessions with live models. A white screen rolls down from the ceiling and lights are placed in their position.
After the session is over we review and choose the best pictures. Soon we can present our latest collection to the world! Just a bit of tweaking, arrangements and photoshop enhancement…
soon our catalog will be ready!
